Our mission: We exist to love all people, to introduce them to Jesus Christ and to worship Him in community with each other.
Biblical Context
In the Gospel of John Chapter 4 verses 1 through 42, Jesus and the disciples walk through Samaria and come to a town called Sychar. Jews and Samaritans generally did not get along well with each other in that time and it was unusual for a Rabbi to travel through that area, even though it was the most direct route for his destination of Galilee.
The Disciples of Jesus went into the town to gather food and Jesus stopped and sat down at a well known as “Jacob’s Well”. It was about noon and He encountered a woman there. Jesus asked her for a drink and this began one of the most incredibly deep theological conversations in the Gospels.
Jesus was in a place that people thought He should not be in, talking to a person that people thought he should not have been talking to about the true worship of God. He showed the woman that He valued her, He loved her even though He was aware of her failure and sin. The woman then went into the town and told everyone about this man saying “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” (John 4:29). The people in the town followed the woman to meet Jesus and the whole town believed in Him.
In this story, we see a beautiful depiction of how we as a church are to love and to reach our community. We love Jesus! We love the Word of God and we love each other. Jesus Christ has given us new lives and brought us into an amazing fellowship with each other as we grow in the study of God’s Word. He loves you too! In fact, nobody loves you like Jesus Christ.
